New everything…

29 November 2007

Just a quick message to let everyone know that I got an email from the cruise line.

The email is a little confusing but as far as I can make out I am going to a new ship and a new cruise line. I am going to the Holland America ship MS Amsterdam. I know nothing about this line, the way they do things etc so it will be another learning experience. It also means another uniform and name badge to add to the collection.

 The itinerary seems okay though.

I start with a 10 Caribbean cruise visiting ports that I havent been to.

Then a 14 day Caribbean cruise visiting more ports I havent been to including the Panama Canal.

Then a 114 day world cruise visiting lots of ports I havent been to plus a couple I have. NZ and Aus for instance.

Then I go to Alaska via the Panama Canal and the west coast of the US http://www.hollandamerica.com/dest/itinerary.do?selectedItin=20080424:A815:T8A022&dest=T

Then a few weeks in Alaska before my 6 months are up.

The cruises are broken up into individual legs that are sold as individual cruise but that is the basic itinerary. There are a lot of sea days, especially on that world cruise and HAL is an unknown place to work but it doesn’t look too bad.

    Greg,
I just discovered your blog this week and have enjoyed reading about your adventures. I am keenly interested in your experience on the Amsterdam. My wife and I will be journeying on her (first time) from Seattle May 16th for a r/t Alaskacruise. Your itinerary for the Alaska leg is for the 30th of May. Does that mean (God willing) that you will still be on board for our cruise? We don’t frequent the casinos, but will make a point of stopping by to say hello. I, like others, appreciate your writing style. Keep up the good posts.

    Hi Ray,

Yes I should be on board for that cruise. I’m not due to get off until the middle of June. thanks for the kind words about my writing, always good to know that someone enjoys it.

    See you in May.
